This proposal does the following:</p>

<li data-xf-list-type="ul">Suggests a usability enhancement that is 100% upwardly compatible.</li>
<li data-xf-list-type="ul">Provides a workaround for an irritating bug.</li>
</ul>

<p>Note: this proposal does not fix the bug -- the bug remains in the product. However, if the enhancement is implemented, users who enable it won't encounter the bug. Although the bug should be fixed at some time in the future, it is not obvious what needs to be changed in order to fix the bug.</p>
