This appears to be down to SetThumbnails being called in VirtualDirectory code (line 1610 in HandleLocalFilesInDir)

Because this sets the thumbnail then MP does not attempt to fire the OnRetrieveCoverArt event (because it already has been given a thumb here) so nothing gets picked up.

This code is shared with pictures and videos so can not simply take out this line
