    Description

There are numerous problems with searching the EPG. We can filter descriptions by starting letter, which is meaningless and slow (showing the whole list takes many minutes and MP seems to have crashed when you do this). If we search by description, then we do not see the program name (Mantis 2393) and cannot set recordings (Mantis 2392).

This has been discussed in the developer forums and IRC, and there is agreement that rather than fixing individual bugs, we need to make more significant changes to the useability. However, these do not require large code changes, since all the code is in there - just not used consistently.

We need to change the "TV->Search screen as follows:

Buttons down the left-side of the screen:

[Sort By] - this is already there, so no change is needed

[View By] - this will function as [Sort By] and replace the existing [Genres] and [Titles] buttons. The existing [Descriptions] button will be removed, as it makes no sense to browse by description.

[Starts With] - this will function as it does at the moment, but will only be enabled if [View By] is titles and not genres. There are not many genres so there is no need to filter them by A-Z. So, for browsing titles, there should be no change to functionality.

[Search title] - bring up a search dialog for titles. Use the search dialog found in 'TV->schedules->new' which allows SMS input.

[Search description] - same as for search titles, but to search descriptions.

As noted, the 'new' code for searching is already in there, but in a different place. We should not remove this functionality from 'TV->schedules->new', but add it to the main search screen as well.

Wherever search results are displayed (irrespective of whether it was a title or description search) the results should be displayed as a list of program titles (resolving Mantis 2393) which you then select to bring up the episodes (as with a current title search). Hitting okay on an episode will bring up the recording options. This is exactly what happens now for title searches (so the code is present) but does not work like that for description searches (Mantis 2393, Mantis 2392).

Sorry for the lengthy description. I am happy to liaise with a potential developer to clarify if needed, and of course to test.
